All's Well With Giselle Ends Well!

Description

Another spooky turn on Greenback for this Halloween picture.

This morning to lunch hour, I had this idea of a beheaded poodle from the time of Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France (reign as Queen from 1774 to 1791). I even researched the pets she once owned, such as a pug named Mops and a very loyal spaniel, Thisbe. The spaniel was the most interesting, because when Marie was being executed, the mutt mourns by howling just before a bayonet guard pierced it, growling, "So perish all that mourn an aristocrat." Now, I remember this tooks place during the French Revolution and I noticed how many people were executed by the guillotine at the time.

All that together gave me an idea of this particular dead yet reanimated dog:

Giselle (jiz-zell) was once a poodle owned by a loyalist of Marie back before the Revolution took place. Perhaps one of the low class members who support the Queen. It wasn't until the Revolution took place and since the owner is a loyalist to her, the guards would suspect him as a mourner to the aristocrat. So they beheaded him and his pup. I guess you could say some witch from the past revived this mutt before the witch got burned at stake (even though it was not mentioned in the comic, but I had that idea). So Giselle wonders around graveyards as she holds her head up.

So much for Greenback, the green spot seems to have interest Giselle, thinking if he was once owned by a rich person. Sadly, no. Just a stray dog before the limo "came in". And yes...

Greenback is not an aristo-DOG!

Trivia: I planned Giselle to be originally named Antoinette as if the owner really loves her (former) Majesty. But I realized there was already a poodle with that name. So I went through a list of rare French names for girls and I came across Giselle, which means, "pledge'. Due to the color having that letter, "A" on it as it was meant for Antoinette, maybe it should be the last name of her owner. Maybe her owner should be.... Gustave Aubert! That will do!

Don't lose your head over Giselle, mes ami! ^V^

Chililizard: (to Giselle) "You know, Giselle, you're not the only one with a severed head but mine is stitched back on because my Maman is worried I might lose it. Sweating a little..."
